Cast Information

Join the Cast! Make a Difference!

Figure Skaters of all ages at the USFS Basic 3 level and above are invited to participate In Skate for Hope. Cast members will have the opportunity to perform in the Nationwide Arena and share the ice with present and past National and World Figure Skating Champions and Olympic Team Members.

Each skater participating in Skate For Hope will directly help to raise breast cancer research funds by having their performance sponsored. Sponsorship may come from the skater’s friends, family members or local businesses and organizations that he or she wishes to approach. SFH is not-for-profit, charitable 501c3 organization & sponsorship funds are tax deductible.

Each skater earns their spot in the cast by raising funds for breast cancer research. A minimum of $450 is required to become a part of the 2010 cast.

Each Cast Member will Receive:

  • The opportunity to aid in the fight against breast cancer
  • The opportunity to honor loved ones touched by breast cancer
  • Complimentary passes to show (# based on sponsorship level)
  • Six practice ice times with instruction (5 weekly practices & dress rehearsal)
  • Private meet and greet/photo & autograph session with the stars
  • Viewing of private practice of elite stars
  • A gift from Vera Bradley

Skaters will be showcased in three types of numbers:

Group Numbers:
For skaters in the USFS levels Basic 3 through FreeSkate 6 and lSI levels Alpha through Freestyle 4. These will be numbers with 8 -14 skaters.

Intermediate Ensemble Numbers:
For skaters in the lSI Freestyle 5-9 levels, and USFS Prelim - Intermediate Levels. These will be numbers with 4 - 8 skaters.

Advanced Ensemble Numbers:
For skaters that have passed the USFS Novice Free Skate Test. These will
be numbers with 3 – 6 skaters with each having a solo step out within
the number.

Music
Music will be provided for all skaters.

Show Costumes
Show costumes will be selected and ordered by Skate for Hope. Participants will be responsible for payment of selected costumes at the time of registration and will therefore own them after the show. The costume cost will be $95.00.

Skaters that raise $1,000+ by April 23, 2010 may perform in a second number if they choose.  The costume for the $1000+ plus fundraiser number will be created from standard articles of clothing most skaters currently own.  A minimal independent purchase may be required.  All skaters that raise $1000+ by the registration deadline of April 23, 2010 will be emailed by SFH to confirm if they choose to perform in a second number.

Cast Costume Fittings
Each skater will choose to be fit for their costume on either:

Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Chiller North between 1:00 - 3:00 pm
OR
Friday, May 7, 2010 at Chiller Easton between 4:00 - 6:00 pm.

Please be prepared to stay 30 - 40 minutes for your fitting.

Rehearsal Schedule
All rehearsals will consist of 45 minute ice times with choreography and
instruction. Each skater will be given five, 45 minute ice times.

Rehearsals will take place between 12:30 pm - 5:00 pm on
Sundays  5/16, 5/23, 5/30, 6/6, & 6/13, 2010 at Chiller North.
Choreographers often add 15-30 minutes of off ice instruction before or after designated rehearsal ice time so Skaters should plan to be at the rink each Sunday 1 to 1.5 hours for rehearsal. Exact rehearsal times will be given to each skater on May 1st or 7th when they are fit for their costume and given their cast information packets.  Skate for Hope understands each skater has a busy schedule and asks that participants attend a minimum of 4 of the 5 weekly rehearsals.

Dress rehearsal will take place at the Nationwide Arena on Wednesday
June 16, 2010 from 2:00 – 6:00 pm.

Information Package
On May 1st & 7th at the costume fittings, each Skater will receive a participation package that will include:

  • The number in which he or she will perform
  • The music selection for his or her number
  • The name of their choreographer
  • The exact dates and times of his or her rehearsals
  • Complimentary ticket vouchers to the show (number based on sponsorship    level)

Honoring Loved Ones
Written Dedications - All skaters in the show will be listed in the printed show
program. Each skater may also submit a personal, 10-15 word dedication
to someone who has been affected by breast cancer. These personal
messages will be printed next to the skater’s name in the printed show program.

Rose Presentations
If your skater would like to dedicate their performance to a breast cancer survivor present at the show, they may present the survivor with a pink rose after their number. These rose presentations are limited to the first 10 survivors communicated to Skate for Hope via the skater’s online registration.

There will be an additional $125.00 charge for the rose bouquet and two front row seats for each survivor receiving a rose presentation. Families with multiple siblings in the cast must communicate which child will present a rose – time does not permit for any survivor to receive more than one rose.

Additional Performances
All skaters that raise $1,000 and above by April 23, 2010 will have the opportunity to perform in a second number if they choose.

Outstanding Fundraiser Recognition
To recognize & commend the cast members that raise the most funding for research:
• The top five fundraisers will become the headliner flower presenters for the 2010 show.  These skaters will be introduced by name to the audience.

Identification of the top five fundraisers will be determined and revealed at the final rehearsal on 6/16/09. All money raised up to 6/16/09 will determine the top five fundraisers.
